Liesbeth Decan

Liesbeth Decan teaches theory and history of photography at LUCA School of Arts - Campus Sint-Lukas Brussels, where she is also the co-ordinator of the research group Photography Expanded (luca-arts.be/en/photography-expanded-0). She holds a PhD in Art History (University of Leuven). Her research is focused on the use of photography by artists, especially in Belgium, between the 1960s and early 1990s. She is a senior staff member of the Lieven Gevaert Research Centre for Photography, Art and Visual Culture (KU Leuven/UCL - lievengevaertcentre.be); member of the editorial staff of Depth of Field (journal.depthoffield.eu, Leiden University Press) and Život umjetnosti (zivotumjetnosti.ipu.hr); member of the Committee of Lieven Gevaert-Leerstoel vzw and Sint-Lukasgalerie Brussel vzw; member of the Scientific Board of FoMu Antwerp; and a member of the Committee of ABCA/BVKC, the Belgian section of AICA.
